I deal with content. Creating it, managing it, managing those who create it. As such, I might find myself dealing with any number of topics– anything from aeronautics engineering to cocktails, from Doctor Who to personal finance. Sometimes that work is linked to projects at Modern Parlance, the content consultancy I founded in 2006. Sometimes it is linked to my work as a freelance writer.
Sometimes it results from my falling down the research rabbit-hole, a situation I find myself in quite a lot. To house all this extra-curricular material and promote myself (and by extension, my work samples of which you can find on the portfolio page) I created Personal Parlance. Here I can share my personal views on the subjects of publishing, books, communication, indexing, writing, education – and anything else that catches my eye.
It is the most business-oriented of the blogs in the four blogs that make up the Modern Parlance Blog Network. I’ve been blogging in a casual way since 1996 and lived in New York for 23 years. At some point in 2005, these two facts came together and resulted in my taking blogging a bit more seriously and creating Greater Gotham. It was at that point that my another interest of mine was taking up a considerable amount of space in my personal blog so I ended up creating Fabulous Foodie, as well – a blog dedicated to the culinary side of life. The Banburian – the most recent entry in the Modern Parlance Blog Network – covers what’s happening and what I find of interest in Banbury, where I am currently living.
