Spring Has Sprung – May 2017

By | 06/13/2017

Well, the temps are going up and April showers have brought May flowers. Not to mention a lot of blogging and social media activity. I have a few new pieces coming soon – that I would love to tell you about now but which I must remain mum on until the pub date. Promise as soon as they go live, you all will be the first to know.

Radio continues to play a central part of my food content machine. I’ve been doing the Jones on Food & Travel show for a while now but this month my co-blogger Patrick joined me for a discussion on all things food – and to take the Fabulous Foodie questionnaire.

Speaking of food, The Banburian hit the road to Warwick to check out their 3rd annual food fair (a sort of warm up for Banbury’s own Food Fair coming in August). I am happy to report that only three years in, the visit to the Warwick Food Fair showed me that this is a fantastic addition to the regional food fair scene and well worth the trip.

It wasn’t all food this month – there was travel as well as the latest post on Greater Gotham Going Global – a review of the amazing all inclusive luxurty resort Curtain Bluff – shows.

FInally – we’re developing a new #hashtag over on the Banburian as well – #GetThereFromBanbury. What do we mean by that? Well, it occurred to us that there a lot of events and places of interest which you could reach in an hour or less from Banbury. We took our inspiration from posts such as last year’s Banbury’s Historic Motoring & Motorsport Landscape. A veritable smörgåsbord of places to delight the petrolheads in your life – all within an hour or less travel from Babury. So we decided that if you could #GetThereFromBanbury in an hour or less (most are a lot less), it qualified for the hashtag. It all ties in to our belief that Banbury is a great base for exploring some of the most beautiful, historic and interesting places in the country, no matter what your interests might be. We christened our new hashtag on Twitter with some branded graphics on Twitter and they were very well-received.

So, a lot going on – even with that quick jaunt to the Caribbean. There’s a lot more travel reviews to come as well since we have a return visit to Domaine Des Ormes (last year was terrific and we decided on a repeat visit almost as soon as we got back) scheduled for August and a cruise on Cunard’s Queen Victoria booked for September.
